Our South African team is today celebrating Freedom Day. This is an important milestone to remember in the history of the country and the end of racism in South Africa.
It celebrates freedom and commemorates the first non-racial national elections that saw everyone from age of 18 upward taking part in the vote. This first took place 24 years ago in 1994, and South Africa has continued to see change and equality since!South Africa uses Freedom Day to mark the liberation of our country and its people from a long period of colonialism and Apartheid.
Our South African team are a lively part of our business, and it’s important to recognise what makes up their history. Many people will choose the celebrate the day in their own way, usually by visiting some of the country’s historic places as a reminder of the privilege of living in a free country.
