How often should you redesign your website?

Redesign-Website

Redesigning a website doesn’t have to be a lengthy and complicated task. It certainly isn’t something you should be doing every day. But if you don’t do it often enough, your company will quickly look stale, outdated, and out of touch with modern technology and trends. At the end of the day, your website is the face of your business and it’s important to figure out how often your business needs a face-lift.

Believe it or not, there is no definitive timeline to show when exactly you should get a new website. Of course, the answer is dependent on individual companies. Some of you may be reading this and think it is ridiculous to redesign a website every 12 months. But, because technology is continuously improving and evolving, you can’t afford to stand still for too long - and this applies to your website too.

bOnline, who have been designing websites for over 10 years, recommend you perform a redesign of your website on a yearly basis!

So why do I need to update my website once a year?

Ultimately, it’s all about your customer. A new website will have a better User Experience. Not only the layout but the speed of loading. If a page on your site doesn’t load in two seconds, and that includes the images, then it’s too slow. If it takes longer than two seconds, you’re missing out on visitors and potential sales.

As mobile searches increases, new websites are guaranteed to be SEO friendly, and on top of the latest Google algorithms, which are constantly being updated. In a year there can be more than 500 updates, and while not all of them are major, your website needs to comply with each update in order to rank highly in searches.

A website redesign doesn’t have to be a long and time-consuming task. It can be as simple as choosing a new colour scheme that will re-engage your audience. Or laying out your pages in a new way so customers can read your content more easily. What we’re trying to say is, you don’t have to re-write all your content, or change everything during this redesign.

More benefits of redesigning your website:

  • Better SEO results
  • Stay on top of Google algorithms
  • Improved user experience
  • Grow user engagement
  • Faster loading and website speed
  • Improved security
  • MORE SALES

There are many reasons to keep your website up to date, without redesigning, and that won’t need an experts help. These updates can be in the form of blogs, or keeping your web pages up to date with fresh content on a regular basis. Keeping your website up to date will not only improve your credibility - which directly improves SEO - it will also encourage customers to keep coming back to your website, to see what’s new.

Final thoughts

We are all familiar with the phrase “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” and if your website truly is working for you then this common phrase makes sense. But when thinking of your website, it won’t necessarily need ‘fixing’. Redesigning a website will create more customer engagement and intertwine the latest design trends of the past year to your website.
